Luisa Hernández / Niza Va Or a story about embodying fluidity
This musical journey began with the traditional rhythms of the southeast Mexican region, where music is not just a form of expression but a conduit for storytelling and celebration. Influenced by the vibrant sounds of Son Jarocho, trova, and Latin American melodies, Niza's compositions are a dialogue with fellow musicians, ever-evolving like liquid matter.
In 2020, amidst a global pandemic, Luisa’s vision crystallized into the album Agua Que Corre Recorded at Lila Downs and Paul Cohen's renowned studio "El Comalito," the album features collaborations with esteemed musicians such as Tavo Tixu, Benjamin Plafker, Irving Cruz , Cruz Tisay and Konk Balam Díaz.
A Fusion of Cultures: Oaxaca / Berlin/
Relocating to Germany in 2021, Niza’s musical evolution continued through collaborations with Nele Rathke, resulting in a harmonious blend of two voices and the resonant tones of the jaranas. Balancing between Oaxaca and Berlin, Niza Va graces stages across both cities, constantly renewing its sound identity in response to time and place.
Sound, Healing and Connection
In addition to her musical pursuits, Luisa started a learning process on traditional medicine since the age of 17; weaving together her heritage with global experiences and exchanges.
